HOW TO DETERMINE THE SPECIFIC GRAVITY OF CEMENT

We can determine the specific gravity of a cement by Le-Chateliers flask method:-

Required materials:-

Le chateliers flask of 250 ml,
Ordinary Portland Cement,
Kerosene,
Weighing balance.

Procedure:-

Step 1:- Take apparatus & weight it.

(we can say weight of empty as w1)

Step 2:- Fill the cement on the bottle upto half of the flask.

(we can say weight of flask with half filled

cement as w2)

Step 3:- Add kerosene to the cement upto top of the flask and mix it properly.

(we can say weight of flask filled with cement and kerosene as w3)

Step 4:- Empty the flask and fully filled with kerosene upto the top of flask.

(now we can say weight of the flask fully filled with kerosene as w4)
